we wandered outside the room playing with the

crawlies.....of course she Did Not see us!!!

she was too busy ordering her food.....

and all this while dadster was resting.....

she was too busy being a glut that she did not

see us enjoying the cool aircon with her, bol!!!

they Can't be THIS hungry....ok,

let me explain HOW they eat....

a bit of this, that and that and

everything under the hot Penang sun...

breakfast....brunch.....lunch...

tea.....late evening snack....dinner....supper

does this explain How they eat?????

we kid you not!!!

they order little dishes everywhere

( geeeez, these are hawker food

Not tapas!!! )

we went and Every time!!!

here's just Some of the dishes eaten DAILY

yes, daily!!!

Rojak

a penang style salad with fruits/cuttlefish/

cucumber etc and tossed with prawn paste, chilli

and topped with ground peanuts

Curry Mee

yellow noodles and vermicelli infused in

spicy coconut curry and with cockles

tofu puffs, cuttlefish, and shrimps as toppings.

Popiah

jacama (yambean), diced beancurb,

and crab meat wrapped in fresh spring roll

Prawn Noodles

popular noodle soup with spicy broth made from

prawn shells and heads.

served with slices of hard-boiled eggs, shredded prawns,

pork, crispy fried shallots and a spoonful of chili paste.

Chendol (desert )

pandan flavoured noodles. shaved ice

red beans in coconut milk and palm sugar syrup.

Fried Oyster Omelette

fried omelette with fresh oysters, with starch mixed into the eggs.

the key to this dish is Wok Hei (breath of wok) as well as

the generous use of fresh and succulent oysters

Chee Cheong Fun

steamed rice rolls with oil, sweet sauce, and

Heh Koe (prawn paste sauce)

topped with toasted sesame seeds, and fried shallots

and chili sauce (if desired).

Apong Balik

Malaysian pancake filled with sliced bananas...

delish!!!

Pulut Inti

glutinous rice topped with caramelised grated coconut flesh

wrapped in a cut banana leaf to resemble a square pyramid.

Kuih Lapis

uses only Tapioca flour and Rice flour

resulting a very soft and tender kueh (dessert )

with

delicious fragrance from freshly squeezed coconut milk.

we were so tired yesterday after the four hour drive

to Penang Island

ok, dadster drove but still......

This is the cafe and we love it here....er, we

love the whole place!

OUR room is after the gate!

Tiffy: you think they will miss A flower???

CoCo: dare you!!!

our room....looove the marble floor

Tiffy: CoCo ensured i didn't mark the floor!!!

she's No fun!!!

the long 13.5km (8.4mi) bridge that we had to cross over

from mainland Malaysia ....to

keep watch.....

she's still sleeping...talk about being jaded, ha

so it's up to me

to keep the hoomans awake....

CoCo: that's a temple in Georgetown,

the UNESCO world heritage site, silly....

the entrance to our beautifully renovated boutique hotel

we or our hoomans were born...

we've been away too long

anyway, to cut a looong story short,

dadster found a new boutique hotel

on a holiday island

that Welcomes Usssssss...

we Can't contain our excitement

and wanted to share this good news!!!

I Will Always Remember September11

I will always remember 9/11

like it was yesterday....

i remember waking up to a "cushioned" explosion sound

and remarking to my Singapore colleague that

it's sounded like a dynamite blast

sounded weird as we were on Broadway and 77th

i then heard the second "cushioned" blast...

we were getting ready for work having

just flown in from LA for fashion week

having been at Bryant Park for the fashion show the

day before, the TV was switched to the fashion channel

hoping to see the reviews for the show we attended

instead of the usual CNN channel...

at the hotel lift, i remember the housekeeping

staff mention "plane" and "twin towers"

i panicked as i thought of home

as the Petronas Towers in Malaysia

is also known as the twin towers....

Everything else was so vivid like it happened yesterday...

going in to the office and

trying to work and

feeling stupid afterwards....

watching TV and feeling helpless

and sad and very angry at the same time...

praying that survivors will be found

hoping for rain to wash away

the dust and the smell of burnt iron...

after a couple of days, walked down

Broadway to Fifth Avenue just to get

out of the hotel ...

after my friend and colleague Janet left

when her Singapore flight was allowed out,

i felt lost and lonely...

i slept fully clothed and with my suitcase

by the bed in the event that i could

get a flight home soon....

chatting with the firefighter

in the fire station across the hotel

and feeling his sadness at the loss

of his friends...
nothing i said would have helped console him
so i just listened....

being thankful for the calls from

home from my close friends

and from my prince charming....which

kept me sane...

being thankful that my PCharming

did NOT

give up checking with the airlines for a flight out

and Insisted i had a seat on the flight

if i left for the airport the next morning at 6am

eventhough i protested that Newark Airport

was still closed...

being thankful to the On The Avenue staff

for keeping my room in the event the flight home

was cancelled.....

I love NYC and I have been back since and

I still look for the Twin Towers in the skyline as

I Will Never Ever Forget

the day that changed me....

My thoughts to All who left us that fateful day

and to their loved ones left behind...

and

to all our friends who are still feeling the loss...

Our Eating Binge Is Supposed To End Today...

Today is supposedly the last day of

the ChineseNewYear celebrations

And the last day of the ~~mumster's~~ food binge

But

as usual, she has another good excuse

for this coming Saturday Feb19's

dinner.....err, dadster's birthday....

she's trusting we are that naive!!!

this being her first CNY

my sista is confused and paying close attention

to my explanation of CNY's traditions

and mumster's excuses for her food binge!

CoCo: Tiff, all the family gatherings, the eating

is supposed to bring good luck for the new year

and the more mumster eats, the more luck

for her and us, ok?

Tiffy: yes, CoCo

CoCo: before, the celebration lasted a whole

month and now luckily it only lasts

for 15 days.......can you imagine mumster's

waistline if she eats nonstop for a month???

you know, the food we ate are symbolic?

eg: dumplings - they look like golden nuggets

oranges -perfectly round symbolizing wholeness

and completeness

long noodles - for long life

CoCo: remember how i had to help

clean the house Prior to CNY? to clear

any bad luck from last year???

Hello, we are fine and we trust

all of you are well too as we

have Missed you sooooo much.......

We were MIA as dadster had been unwell

and TONIGHT was his surgery

and he's now back in his hospital room

and we are going to sleep better tonight....

We did not want to worry all of you unnecessarily

so we waited till we had better news.....

We told mumster that we had to write tonight

BEFORE we were forgotton bol!

We wanted to know more about the surgery

so we can explain better BUT all that hooman

told us was NOT to make dadster laugh

too much when we see him

as his " hiney Can't take it"

The other good news is that

when i saw him on the dance floor.....

mumster has been asked numerous times
whether it's easy looking after
my ~~less intelligent~~ sister CoCo......

CoCo IS, after all, quite small
weighing in at 3lbs 7ozs/1.55kg
and don't forget she measures only 9ins
from neck to tail!

and she's already 5years young!

she's actually not too bad looking ~~for an old geezer~~

hmmmmm, not too bad at all; just Not as

intelligent as moi on the
Ranking scale.....

( she's 67 to my number 2 on the scale!!!)

occasionally, i have to keep her in line....and

to show her who's boss bol!

she loves fruits, especially apples and bananas

( just a tiny slice will do)

and

she has two meals daily besides fruits

Two table spoonfuls of dry kibbles - Natural Balance

with yogurt in the mornings

and

another two spoonfuls of dry kibbles with

lamb or fish at nights

(or just dry kibbles when mumster

is ~~lazy~~ busy....)

( she's cheap to upkeep and i eat double the amount...)

the occasional treat will keep her ~~your slave~~ happy

when she behaves, she is allowed to join us

for cappuccino........

she used to love swimming Before

she fell into a koi pond!!!

(she was being chased by another poodle, ha ha)

she may be economical to feed

BUT

she does love her carriers......

errr, she's also a fashionista....

( still can't figure out why she has a Need

for clothes......)

Now, IF she's too much for anyone to handle,

I'm Not going anywhere.....

and i'm err, quite adorable.........

i have more clothes than him .....

was all over with no place to grow; the vet

said mumster made her baby teeth too strong

and they refused to drop off on their own!

two 'hanging' dew claws removed

and spayed at the same time.....

WED UPDATE : Tiff is home, had 17
teeth extracted, 2 dew claws removed
besides being spayed,
is in pain but should be better tomorrow...

take a long hard look at this pathetic face....

my sista, Tiffy will be spayed, have her baby

teeth extracted and her dew claws removed...

TQ concerned furiends: only the 'hanging claws'
will be removed as these hurt her when they
get caught in her bedding.

The other two, close to her
paws, will be left alone.

this Wednesday!

she's already feeling the pain, poor girl...

she's sulking and refuses to play

( not that i want to play with her

since

she was shaved, urgh.......)

Grandma is slowly getting used to life

grandma to visit mumster's sister Kathrine

in faraway Singapore ( an hour plane ride away)

We're NOT happy about this but we understand (barely)

Singapore
